Backpack Packing Tips Questions

What are some running/trekking tips for someone who is fat?
I like to do outdoor things like run and trek/hike, but I usually get knee, ankle, and foot pains after a couple days of trekking. I’m fat and I need to lose weight, but for some of us that’s easier said than done. I wear decent shoes and socks when I trek and I am careful about packing my backpack correctly, I try to regulate my mileage, but are there any other tips for my runs/hikes/treks to cut down on pain and injuries. And please don’t just tell me to lose weight; I’ve been trying to do that for years but I just keep getting fatter.
Most people who go out in the wilderness don’t have the ability to do it every single day, and thus we all get sore after… it’s just a price we pay. You need to distinguish between pain and injuries, because they’re not the same thing.
Conditioning is very important. The first few times at any exercise is going to be painful, but if you keep at it your body will adapt. Stretch extremely well before and after any exercise. Really the only answer is to work harder at it.
Try to minimize the weight you take with you also. If you don’t need something, leave it at home, and constantly look for lighter substitutes.
Just keep with it. I’m a logger and work extremely hard and still get sore on tougher trips… but the sense of accomplishment and amazing areas we work hard to get to are worth it.
