How heavy is too heavy for a laptop?
I’m debating b/w a 17″ Macbook Pro or a 15″ Mackbook Pro, each is 6.6 lbs & 5.5 lbs respectively.
I will be buying it before I go to college, so it will be lugged around in a backpack/laptop-bag most of the time, but I’m also interested in the higher resolution (for possible graphics work, POSSIBLE) screen of the 17″.
How heavy is too heavy?
If you were a body builder with mucles to rival the Governor of California (Yah, he is lahge), then you would find most things to be very light. If you were a thin waif who only weighed 60 lbs soaking wet, and you stood 5 feet 5 inches tall, then most things would be heavy to you.
How heavy is too heavy? Impossible to answer. You will only know what is too heavy for you, after you have lugged it around for a while. Some laptops are considered Desktop Replacements, and are not really built to be lugged around all the time. Other laptops, or even netbooks, are designed to be carried everywhere you go, even just tucked away in a purse with a ton of other things.
You should go to an Apple store, and see how heavy 6.6 lbs feels to you. You might find that it isn’t all that big of a deal.
Remember that 5.5lbs might sound lighter, until it is in a bag with 15 lbs of books. Then, you would be looking at either 20.5lbs total, or 21.6 lbs total… in which case that single extra pound of weight isn’t nearly as important.
